Course Description

Project management is so much more than what is visible at first glance. Often we see a team, the tools and the pieces needed to complete the project. What we don’t see is the planning, the tool selection, the communication, mentoring or even the “speed bumps” that got the project this far.
Project management is a proven process for guiding a project or a task execution from cradle to grave. However an effective process alone cannot deliver flawless task execution.

A complement of critical “soft skills” are required to bring the project to a successful completion. This balanced approach to project management is the basis of this workshop.
This course is designed to provide a strong framework of modern project management concepts and practices with direct application to the oil and gas industry. Project activities such as design, procurement, construction and maintenance are used to create a practical context for expected learning effectiveness. Basic familiarity with oil and gas project environments is a nice-to-have.

The course does not cover proficiency training in MS Project or Primavera P6; these are offered as optional modules on request.

At the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
i.    Identify the critical factors for leading successful oil and gas projects
ii.    Describe a typical project lifecycle, based on a holistic understanding
iii.    Discuss the nine project management process groups
iv.    Describe methods and processes of stakeholder identification and management
v.    Apply various principles, tools and techniques to manage a project from initiation to close out
vi.    Be introduced to a range of essential soft skills that complete project methodologies to deliver flawless execution

This course is useful to all persons involved in Project Planning, Maintenance and Engineering, Construction, Project Analysis. All administrative staff will also benefit from it to deliver assigned tasks successfully on time and on budget.
